Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945 – 1980 is a collaboration of more than sixty cultural institutions across Southern California, coming together for six months beginning in October 2011 to tell the story of the birth of the Los Angeles art scene and how it became a major new force in the art world. As part of that survey, Mark di Suvero's 1966 "Tower of Protest" was recreated and erected in a vacant lot off of Sunset Blvd. Composed of approximately 200 panels (4 sq-ft each), the tower was on display during PST's Performance and Public Art Festival. Materials for my contribution entitled "Fix It Up" (a sanitized version of the phrase 'Fuck Shit Up") are galvanized steel and aerosol paint. 24" x 24".
